MidAtlantic Farm Credit has partnered with Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) to develop their Building the SOIL (Strategic Outreach for Innovation and Leadership) project. As part of the partnership, Farm Credit will donate $125,000 to PASA over the next five years.
“We’re thrilled to continue our support of PASA by helping them launch the Building the SOIL Institute,” says Darin Miller, Farm Credit’s regional lending manager. “This initiative will allow PASA to enhance the educational opportunities they provide to farmers in their region.”
“We are extremely proud to have gained this commitment from MidAtlantic Farm Credit,” remarks Lauren Smith, PASA’s director of development. “Their belief in the importance of sustainable farming is undeniable and they are willing to invest in order to assure its secure future.”
The mission of the Building the SOIL initiative is to improve agricultural soils throughout PASA’s territory, while also educating and preparing farmers about sustainable agricultural practices. This program will grow a community of innovative leaders through farmer training, research, and events that will promote sustainable farming practices in their communities.
