AgBiz Masters
AgBiz Masters is an interactive educational learning series, designed specifically for young, beginning and minority farmers interested in honing their business and financial management skills.
The program was developed by Dr. David Kohl, a Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech. It takes a blended learning approach of eLearning modules and activities and face-to-face regional seminars led by local experts.
AgBiz Masters is a two-year series, but you only enroll in one year of the program at a time. Year one offers modules in the following areas:
Megatrends of agriculture
Strategic business planning
Preparing for your lender
Constructing a balance sheet
Constructing an income statement and cash flow projection
In year two, you'll find modules about:
If you’ve ever seen Dr. Kohl speak, you know that he’s both dynamic and easy to understand. This eLearning program brings Dr. Kohl into your living room (or office, or kitchen—wherever you keep your computer). You can study at your own pace, at whatever time of day works best for you.
In addition to the online materials, course work will be supplemented by regional face-to-face learning sessions.
The cost of this program is regularly $375 per person. Through MidAtlantic Farm Credit, you'll only pay a $125 registration fee, which covers individuals or couples/partners. That's a $250 value!
You may be eligible for additional scholarship reimbursements to help cover the registration cost. For more information on what scholarships you may qualify for, please click here.
And at the end of the class, all graduating students will have a complete business plan, and a roadmap for future success!
