‘Tis The Season for Giving Back
By: Meaghan Malinowski, marketing intern
The Holiday season brings warm and fuzzy feelings to many as they celebrate and ring in the New Year with family and friends. However, some of the members of our communities are struggling through difficult financial times and rely on the efforts of their surrounding community to aide in lifting their holiday spirits, which is exactly what some of our offices are doing.
Suggested by Loan Assistant, Pat Lindemeyr, the Westminster, MD branch held a small toy drive to collect toys that would be given to local children during the holidays. Their drive lasted two weeks and the group successfully delivered 13 toys to the “Toys for Tots” program at the Westminster Public Library on December 16, 2013. In our Valley Region, offices participated in a fundraiser called “Casual for a Cause”, where employees can make donations towards their fund collection to wear jeans and casual clothing on Fridays. This fundraising effort, only lasting two Fridays, received major participation as the region as a whole collected close to $1,000 that will be donated to local food banks in preparation for the holiday season. Valley’s regional manager, Kelly Bohrer, was extremely pleased with the turn out. “I am so grateful to work with such an amazing team and certainly appreciate their giving spirit!”
As a member owned cooperative, MidAtlantic Farm Credit values the idea of giving back to our customers and doing all we can to make their business with us pleasant and a good experience. This mission, however, doesn’t only include our customers, but also to the surrounding communities that we work in. We’d like to take this opportunity to recognize the Valley Region and our Westminster branch office for giving back to their communities this holiday season and to thank them for spreading their great Holiday Cheer!
