Putting Eggs in all Baskets
Today, we don’t see many families making the move back to the farming lifestyle of their ancestors. Most are content with living in and around cities, choosing to be closer to their work and places of interest. However the Lucas family from Stanley, Virginia, found through purchasing a few bucket calves that agriculture could be the right fit for their family. Beginning with a landscaping business and a snow removal operation the family moved to a larger tract of land and added two broiler houses, a litter business, a 200 commercial cow operation, along with eight monthly rental houses, and two vacation cabin rentals built by the family LLC, Lucas Homes. Talk about putting eggs in all baskets!
