The worst of Hurricane Sandy is behind us and now we begin the work of dealing with what it’s done. Thankfully, early reports from around the territory indicate all in our immediate family of staff and Board are safe. There are reports of trees down, flooding and power outages throughout portions of the 5 states we serve.
Several of our offices are without power, or are surrounded by impassable roads. As a result, our Penn and DelMarVa regions are closed today, as are the following offices: Bel Air, MD; Hagerstown, MD; and Martinsburg, WV. We have forwarded all of our phones to open offices, and our MidMaryland and Valley regions’ staff are providing backup support to Delmarva and Penn staff and customers.
Our staff—like the rest of the area–will be taking stock in coming days of the effects of this storm, both at their own homes, and then checking in with our members. We are making it a priority to talk to our customers, like we always do, to learn of their damages, understand their needs and help them with the financial solutions they may need in response.
I am grateful that the storm was not worse in our area, but it is still dangerous. Take care; be safe in both your travels and clean up. We will continue to post updates on our office status on our Facebook page, and on our phone systems.
